In the past 3 weeks we have been discussing the importance of building our lives on the Revelation from the Word of God. I believe these lessons have not been new to you, at least to most of our listeners; however I have come to realize that although most of us know these things, when we sincerely look at our lives we barely see the results produce by the word of God.
There are several reasons that hinder Christians from experiencing the full blessing of the Word. There is a full blessing of the Word of God, and God’s will for our lives is to walk consistently in this full blessing. The Bible says in Psalm 68:19 that God daily loads us with benefits i.e. every single day God gives His children an advantage. The problem is that majority of us, including me, see experience this benefit on a daily basis. So today I want to share a basic lesson that will help us overcome and start seeing the blessing of God on our lives consistently.
First I want to say this clearly; Christianity is not a religion in the true sense of what a religion is:
Christianity is a relationship between God and man.
Taking it further, it is a covenant between God and mankind brokered by the man, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who is the son of God, full of Glory and virtue. I believe that a lot of us need to take this paradigm i.e. this way of seeing Christianity. It is a relationship!
Now I want you to think about a good relationship you have in your life presently, it may be with our father, friend, business partner, etc. Something common in the relationships in your life that you consider important and good is trust.
IF THERE IS NO TRUST YOU CAN’T HAVE A GOOD RELATIONSHIP.
And if you want to be sincere with yourself, any relationship that does not give you benefit in your life you tend not to take it seriously. But we find a lot of Christians going to Church every Sunday morning, even we “born again people”, but do not experience the benefit of their relationship with God.
I dare to say that majority of us Christians do not experience the relationship with God. We have relationship with our pastors, priests, with people in our church, with our work in the church, and every other thing except from God. We fall into different categories though.
There are some of us that got into relations with God by accepting Jesus but have never went on to develop that relationship; others tried to develop the relationship with God but it seemed not to be working, maybe we trust God for something but it didn’t work out so we either completely leave him or take the attitude that “God is God”; so we appear to be doing the things of God (even faithful in Church attendance) but when it comes to our relationship with God we don’t experience it. And there are also some that have never had a relationship with God, but they have to go to Church every Sunday as that is the right thing to do. There are several other groups which we don’t have time to mention. The reason for all this is that we don’t have the right perspective of what a relationship with God is.
As I said earlier relationships are based on trust and there are three (3) things we trust in people we are in relationships with:
- Their Character,
- Their Ability, and
- Their Words
The problem is you cannot see God with your physical senses as you can see your friend, father, business partner or bank. So it seems to be more difficult to relate with God, but that is also what makes our relationship with God unique and very interesting.
The first thing God calls us to do in coming into relationship with him is to repent. Now repent is not a religious word that means, I should stop the bad things I used to do. It is translated from a Greek word that means to change ones thinking or purpose. In simple terms it means to change the way you see things, a paradigm shift.
FOR YOU TO ENJOY YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD, YOU NEED TO CHANGE YOUR THINKING
And start seeing that the things that you can’t see with your eyes are as real as, and even more real than things you can see with your eyes. And you see God loves us so much and He knows this might not be easy for most of us so He inspired men to write out His word and compile it into the Bible.
So you have something physical that will help you connect with Him in the unseen realm. The Bible says that we should not look at what is seen but we should look at what is unseen, because the things that we can see with our physical eye are temporal while the things we can’t see physically are eternal.
Let me pray with you. First I want to say that you can’t have a relationship with God until you believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sin and was resurrected so that you can be righteous. If you believe in him in your heart and confess Him with your mouth that He is your Lord, you will be saved.
Once you do that you immediately become born again and ready to start you journey with God.
Thank very much for listening and it has been an honor sharing the word of God with you. I believe you are blessed by our program today. I will like to hear from you please send me a mail, let’s share in your miracle.
