THE CHURCH was created to walk in dominion, in power and with a focus on establishing the kingdom of God on the earth. As the body of Christ, the Church is designed to receive its authority from its head, Jesus. However with a close look at the working of the Church as whole at present, with particular emphasis on the Church in Nigeria, we can see that the Church is not manifesting its power in God both as individuals and as the whole. Christians who are new creations in Christ Jesus and have access to the wisdom and power of God seem to be weak and highly dependent. This has limited their ability to shine as light and be distinguished in their area of interest and endeavor in both character and productivity. A critical contributory factor to the present state of the Church especially in Nigeria is the issue of prayer.
Prayer is one of the critical tools God has given Christians to access His power and establish His kingdom and righteousness on the earth. However there are principles and dimensions of prayer which majority of the children of God are not walking in.
The All Believers’ Prayer Convention (aBPC) is aimed at equipping Christians to take their role as people of influence and power in the society through an intimate relationship with God in prayer. The vision for this program is to transform the outlook of the average Christian from weak and unproductive to that of high productivity, power and influence. Its goal is to see the church standing in its place of authority, enforcing the power, wisdom and Kingdom of God in on the earth.
In the book of James 5 the Bible spoke about an outstanding prophet Elijah stating that he was a man like us with like passion and weaknesses. However in reading about his life you could see the level of influence he had in the whole of Israel. He held the economy of the country for 3 and half years through prayer and did several mighty works.
In the New Testament Jesus spoke about His return and suggested to His disciples that John the Baptist was his similitude. He went onto say that of all men born of a woman John was the greatest but the least in the kingdom of God is greater than John (Matthew 11:14). This means that every single Christians should be walking in a realm higher than John the Baptist or should I say Elijah. In reading about Elijah you will find a recurring statement He made, which was the key to His ministry, “Lord God of Israel before whom I stand”(1 Kings 17:1 & 1 Kings 18:36).
A study of trends in the Church will show that we are in the last days and one of the hallmarks of the last days is that the Church will rise to be a force of good to bring solutions to the World’s problems. Prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 2:1-5) and Micah (Micah 4:1-5) prophesied that people and nations will flow to the Church to learn the ways of God in solving issues in governance, economy and business.
For this prophesy to be fulfilled, Christians need to stand up in their God given authority leveraging on the resources of heaven to do exploits in the “real world”.
Christians are the Light of the world…
IT IS THE WISDOM OF GOD (Proverbs 8:22-36) that created, and sustains the heaven and earth and all the foundational principles that exists today such as the seed principle or gravity, including the ones we have not yet discovered. It is upon these basic or ‘natural’ principles that all forms of complex systems have evolved. Jesus always said so by teaching in parables to make us understand this fact because, the earth was created to reflect heaven. The Bible says that in Christ is hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3) and we are complete in Him. However looking in the world, we can barely find Christians that are captains of industries and sectors, which are the modern day Kingdoms. The reason for this is that we have not started mining the treasures of wisdom that are in Christ. People who can access this wisdom will literally rule in this world and God has determined that in these days, His children will take hold of this wisdom and reign in this world (Ephesians 3:8-12, Revelation 5:9-10).
However God has also designed it in such a way that it is through a lifestyle of effective praying that His Children will lay hold of this wisdom and soar as Kings on this earth.
In this second edition of #aBPC delved into these dynamics of prayer that will revolutionize the way Christianity is viewed in Nigeria. And we expected that participants of this program were “initiated” into this lifestyle of prayer. We lunched the “New Generation of Kings”!
